Mitzvah Maven (4’s) Lead Teacher Alexis Coney

Pre-K teacher Ms. Alexis has the perfect background to prepare children academically and socially for the Kindergarten.  She provides a fun and creative environment that keeps the children engaged and eager to learn.  Prior to joining Hillel in a fall of 2007, Ms. Alexis taught 4-6 year olds at a private school. There, she prepared weekly lesson plans, curriculum development, and planned recreational activities.  She also worked as a nanny and cheerleading, dance, and tumbling instructor.  While attending East Carolina University she was a cheerleader and pursued a major in Early Childhood Education.   She is a wife and mother of a toddler.   She can be contacted at alexisconey@yahoo.com

 

 

Ms. Debbie is an invaluable asset in the pre-K classroom.  She assists Ms. Alexis in various activities throughout the day to ensure a smooth run of daily activities and to assure that every child’s needs are met.  Since 1993, Hillel’s children have been attracted to her loving and nurturing personality.  An avid reader, she imparts this passion to her students.  Ms. Debbie is married and a mother of two grown sons.

Torah Tykes (3’s) Lead Teacher Cheryl Richardson

Ms. Cheryl has been teaching for over nine years and holds an Early Childhood Associate Certificate.   In addition to earning an LPN in Nursing, she is currently working towards a Bachelors degree in Education.  After serving as an assistant teacher, Ms. Cheryl was promoted to lead teacher in 2007.   Her enthusiasm, wit, and ability to make each child feel special are some of her admirable qualities.   She is also a President of her church youth club, sings in the church choir and serves on their usher board.  Reading inspirational books and crocheting are some of her many hobbies.   Ms. Cheryl is married, has a daughter and three grandchildren.  Her middle grandchild is currently attending Hillel’s Pre-K class.  She can be contacted at koolchildcare@yahoo.com

 

 

Ms. Linda began teaching at Hillel in 1992.  She is incredibly in-tune with the children and truly cares about each child’s development. Ms. Linda is creative and imaginative in her approach to teaching her little super stars.  A typical day may begin with listening to songs, reading books, or creating crafts.  After earning a B.S. in Education from Western Carolina University, she obtained a NC State Early Childhood Credential.  Prior to her extended tenure at  Hillel she taught at Root, Myrtle, Underwood and Brooks Elementary schools in Raleigh and at Sylva Elementary in Sylva, NC.  She is also a successful jewelry designer.  Ms. Linda is married and she and her husband enjoys dancing.

Afternoon adventures Lead teacher Deanna Perry

 

Ms. Deanna’s can-do attitude and enthusiasm ensures that the curriculum-based afternoon program is exciting for the children.  She has worked in the childcare field for nine years. Her work experience includes teaching preschool and managing a children’s drop-off center.  She has completed the requisite courses to obtain her state of  NC  Early Childhood Credentials and is studying to become a pediatric nurse. Ms. Deanna is the busy mother of a sportive nine year old boy.
